October: 

 

Themes: Colors (Key vocab: Black, White, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow), Numbers + Ages, 5 senses & related parts of body, Halloween, Safety (KII)


Color recognition (6 colors or more)

Recognize numbers 0-10 (Sept through Nov)

Count objects for numbers 0-10

Calendar (throughout the year) - Review days of the week & months

Compare sets to determine more, less and equal

Introduce smaller/larger, heavier/lighter, more/less, longer/shorter

Introduce simple directions - Left, Right, Front, Behind

 

November:

 

Themes: Fall/Harvest, Thanksgiving, Chinese Food, Seasons & related activities

 

Write basic characters (sky, water, fire, earth, big, small)

Recognize numbers 0-15

Count numbers 0-15

Calendar (throughout the year) - Review days of the week & months

Interpret simple picture and bar graphs (for worksheet purposes)

Identify and locate United States & China on a map (introduce flags)

Use simple directions - Left, Right, Front, Behind

 

 

December:

 

Themes: Christmas, Parts of the Body, More Colors, More Food

 

Spatial concepts – in front of, behind, top, bottom, over, under, between/middle, inside, outside

Write characters for mother, father, you, me/I

Recognize numbers 0-20 (Count numbers 0-20)

Introduce more, less and equal

Weather and temperature (hot/cold)

Identify names for parts of the body

Recognize country flags (US/China/select countries)


January:

 

Themes: New Year & Chinese/Lunar New Year, Clothing, Zodiac Animals (Chinese dragon, rabbit or more?), Assembly for Parents

 

Animals of the Zodiac Story

Various Chinese New Year activities - decorate the room for New Year?

Make comparison between American New Year/Chinese New Year

Likenesses and differences in colors and shapes (same/different)

Weather
